Terms of Service

Last updated 30 August 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of HuntPeople. They set out what you may and may not do with the service, what we promise, and where each of us stands if something goes wrong.

1. Acceptance

Creating an account or using HuntPeople means you accept these Terms of Service. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you are confirming you have the authority to bind it.

2. What HuntPeople is, and isn't

HuntPeople finds and verifies information about a specific person from a name, email, phone number, or other identifying clue, using automated tools and AI-directed research over publicly available and licensed information sources. HuntPeople is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and nothing it returns is a consumer report. You may not use HuntPeople, or anything it returns, to make or support a decision about a person's eligibility for employment, housing, credit, insurance, or education. If you need a report for one of those purposes, you must get it from a provider that complies with the FCRA.

3. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older to use HuntPeople. At signup we ask for your date of birth and refuse the account if it makes you younger than 18. We do not verify age beyond what you tell us, a date typed into a form is not proof of age, and by using the service you are representing that what you entered is true. We check the date and do not keep it.

HuntPeople is built for use within the United States. We do not currently restrict access from outside the United States, but the service isn't designed or represented to meet any other country's law. If you access HuntPeople from outside the United States, you do so at your own risk and are solely responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you.

4. Permitted use

You may use HuntPeople for a lawful purpose you would be willing to state to us directly: reaching someone you already have a legitimate reason to contact, verifying a counterparty, due diligence, reconnecting with a lost contact, journalism, or research. You are responsible for having a lawful basis for each search, under whatever law applies to you and to the person you search.

5. Prohibited use

You may not use HuntPeople to:

  • Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, dox, or locate someone in order to appear at their home or workplace uninvited
  • Make or support any decision covered by the FCRA — employment, housing, credit, insurance, or education eligibility
  • Discriminate against anyone based on a search result
  • Resell or redistribute a report, share search access with anyone outside your team, or resell access to your API key
  • Bulk-harvest records for resale or for building another product
  • Violate the terms of any source HuntPeople draws information from
  • Search a minor, or use the service for any purpose prohibited by applicable law

We record who ran, edited, deleted, or downloaded a given search, tied to the account and team that did it. Violating this section is grounds for suspension or termination, and we may disclose what we know to law enforcement where legally required or where we believe someone is at risk of harm.

6. No warranty on results

HuntPeople is provided “as is.” Confidence is the search engine’s own judgement of how strongly a finding ties back to the person you asked about, and a high one means the evidence lined up, not that the result is correct. Findings we constructed rather than saw — a work address built from a company’s usual format, for instance — are labelled as worked out rather than observed. Sources go stale, names collide, and records get mixed up before we ever see them. You must independently verify anything you intend to act on. A search that finds nothing is reported as finding nothing; a search that failed is reported as a failure. We do not present one as the other.

7. Fees and credits

Searches are paid for with prepaid, non-expiring credits at a price shown before the search runs; subscription plans grant seats and features, never credits. Billing, cancellation, and refund terms are set out in the Refund Policy, which this section incorporates by reference.

8. Data and the shared-person model

HuntPeople keeps one record per real person, shared across customers, rather than a private copy per search. A person you look up may already have a record from another customer's earlier search, and your findings may become visible to a later customer who searches the same person. Your team's own notes, edits, and deletions apply only to your team's view. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account for violating Section 5, for fraud or chargeback abuse, or for nonpayment. A suspended account is told the reason and keeps its data: suspension blocks sign-in, it does not delete anything, and any session already open stops working immediately. Suspension is reversible; termination is not. You may stop using HuntPeople at any time. See the Refund Policy for what happens to unused credits and subscription time.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HuntPeople's total liability for any claim relating to the service is capped at whichever is greater: the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. This cap does not apply to fraud, gross negligence, or any right that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify HuntPeople against claims arising from your violation of Section 5 or your misuse of a search result.

12. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any dispute will be resolved through binding individual arbitration rather than in court, and you and HuntPeople each agree to bring claims only individually, not as part of a class action. This does not apply to small-claims court matters or requests for emergency injunctive relief, and if any part of this clause is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service; the current version is always the one posted here.
